The indigenous Māori pride themselves in their symbiotic relationship with the natural world.

These sentiments resound strongly in their responsible consumption practices to protect our planet's life-supporting capacity.

Motivated by such beliefs, TeOra uses Nature’s ingenuine biological processes as a guide to enable the clean and sustainable production of compounds and proteins.

Our Story

TeOra was founded in 2015 with a straightforward mission: to build a sustainable future by scaling the Science behind Biomanufacturing into an expandable impactful Business.

Here's that story...

"For as long as I can remember, I have been an explorer. Driven by a force to make positive impact and do good for all, the common and charted path ahead was not mine.

I was intrigued by how nature sustains itself, and supports life with all of its components. All the way down to the smallest unit of life, a 'cell'. It's fascinating to see the science and art behind an intricate cellular system. How it operates as a cohesive tiny machine. And how they all come together to form life as we know it.

The path of science took me to understand the fundamental basis of how cells communicate and migrate. It is a love affair with microbes."

"The deadly 2005 Maharashtra floods, which were exacerbated by plastic waste clogging drainage systems, were a wake-up call for me and our community.

This community sense deepened for me when our community suffered more. When India was struck with a rise in Tuberculosis, I went from beach clean-up projects, into volunteering to raise awareness about tuberculosis in less privileged communities."

"It became more evident than ever that we, all together, had to do better for our environment. This drove me to explore how based on my background, love for microbes, we could develop a next generation of sustainability solutions. For these solutions to deliver real impact, they needed to be supported with a scalable business behind it.

This is how, and when TeOra as a company was started. There is a critical need to bring Science out of the lab, develop it into a sustainable business, and into the communities where it can positively impact a larger group of people.
